As such, it may be possible to perform several Sosetsitsu techniques to heavily damage the monster in a short time by using special attacks repeatedly until the energy bar depletes, quickly grab an energy replenishing power-up, and then continue attacking it repeating this process until the power-ups disappear or there are no more left to pick up.Īfter receiving enough damage, the bulbs on the vines will open up and blossom into a white shark head that fires incendiary missiles from its eyes (or more appropriately, its eyes being the missiles themselves) and a tyrannosaur head that fires a powerful laser beam. Instead of picking them all up at once, the player is advised to just use those that are currently necessary and leave the rest for later use. The spots where these projectiles will hit can be predicted by the shadows they project on the floor, hinting the player where they need to move or jump in order to avoid them.įortunately, every once in a while Marian II will instead vomit an array of power-ups. Marian II also has an attack of its own it starts vomiting a plethora of bones all across the screen (likely the remains of previous victims that served as meals), which come in different patterns. Each bud can perform this attack on its own, although most of the times both buds perform it together. Actually, my friends and I used to replay the game over and over just so we could reach the end again to see who would win the girl. The moment was unexpected and totally hilarious. Even after all these years, I still haven’t forgotten how strange and funny it was to find out I had to fight my own ally to win Marian. I spent a lot of time playing Double Dragon in the arcade when I was growing up. If that isn’t a direct nod to the classic Double Dragon scene I don’t know what is! Once you beat a level in the soon-to-be-released beat-em-up you have to battle your friends (who you worked with throughout the stage) for the love of the princess. At the end of most levels in Castle Crashers for Xbox Live Arcade, the four main characters partake in the same type of battle against each other.
